I am also getting this error message. It goes through Preparing, Connecting, Getting Info, Disconnecting and then fails at Loading Info 43%. The error it gives is S03.
I have tried
1. Restarting 2. Unplugging 3. Deleting TiVo Suggestions and program data 4. Reseting system Nothing has worked. My TiVo is a Series 2 40 hour. I have had it up and working since April 2005. As of about 2 weeks ago, it stopped being able to connect to the TiVo service. Nothing has changed on my end. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Kevin |

I am getting the same error message.
Error Code while loading 'S03'. I noticed that some channels don't get their schedule updated, eg NGC and DIY, hence I won't be able to use TIVO to record any shows for those channels after Sep 15th, the last day of the downloaded schedule.
I noticed that the last time the schedule for these channels was successfully downloaded was just before getting the service update for software version 7.2.., which happened on Sep 2nd in my case.
Other channels get the full next 2 weeks schedule downloaded just fine.

This error was resolved by calling TiVo Customer Support.
System: TiVo Series 2 40 Hour DVR
Problem: While connecting to the TiVo Service, all operations complete except loading data. At some percentage through the process, the following error appears
"Load Info Error S03 The DVR encountered a problem while loading information."
This error appears when the TiVo has corrupt data.
Resolution: TiVo Customer Support calls the following procedure a "Kick Start" and is similar to running a Check Disk on a PC running MS Windows
1. Uplug the TiVo for 10-15 seconds
2. Plug in the TiVo and hold the yellow pause button on the remote until the yellow light shows on the front of the TiVo. 3. Release the pause button and type 57. The TiVO will reboot and a green screen will appear stating that the TiVo has encountered an error and may take up to 3 hours to repair it If you do not see this screen, repeat the Kick Start procedure. The error has been repaired, the TiVo will restart. You will need to download program information again. The TiVo customer support technician told me that no recorded shows should be lost unless they contain corrupt data. I was instructed to call back in 24 hours if the screen did not disappear and they would replace the unit if it was less than 1 year old. I hope this helps. Good luck! |

I have been having this problem for months, since they did the first upgrade. I went through this kick start a while ago, and while it initially appeared to fix the problem, it did not. I have attempted twice to do a manual call tonight, and the second time I got the error message before it even started installing the data. I have had to restart the Tivo countless times in the last few months, and do numerous manual calls. This new upgrade this week hasn't helped either, as neither scheduled or manual calls have completed since it was done. Well, ONE manual call completed after I restarted the Tivo to complete the installation of the upgrade. They expect you to pay full price for a new unit if yours is over a year old too. Ours is almost 3 1/2 years old, and almost always worked perfectly until the "upgrades" started. I am not prepared to have to set up all my Wish Lists, Season Passes and thumbs up and down ratings on a new unit, and can't afford one anyway. This blows.

I have been having the same problem with loading the program data. I tried this Kickstart procedure and now my Tivo appears to be in a loop. I started the process last night and then went to bed. When I woke, the Tivo was rebooting. The process now goes like this:
Tivo will reboot, display the green screen (that says it detected a problem and is attempting to fix it), wait about 10 minutes, reboot again and when it comes up, it will have that green screen again. This has repeated since I've been awake and I'm not sure how to get it out of this loop...
Do you have to tell it somehow to stop the kickstart process? Please help!!

That's EXACTLY what happened to mine.
You can't stop it. If the kickstart didn't fix the problem, then your hard drive is dead & you have to send it in. |

Yes, rebooting over and over in Kickstart's drive check indicates the drive is mostly dead.
In addition to sending the DVR in for service, you could replace the hard drive(s). With most models, you can also replace your existing drives with larger ones while you're at it. There are vendors like WeakNees and PTVUpgrade <URL:http://ptvupgrade.com/>, 9th Tee <URL:http://9thtee.com/>, and WeaKnees.com <URL:http://weaknees.com/> that make TiVo hard drive replacement easy.

I am getting the S03 error when loading as well... I tred restarting, unplugging, clear thumbs+, and kickstart 57
the kickstart only took like 15 minutes(not 3 hours) is that normal? and then the tivo appears to be fine... but still will not finish loading successfully... I don't want to lose my season passes, please help!

While your Tivo is operational now, write down all your Season Passes and Wishlist items in the order you have them now. Once my Tivo entered the Kickstart 57 loop, I couldn't get it out and lost everything. I had to recreate everything from memory and I'm sure I forgot some things.
Learn from my experience...document everything the way you like it so if/when your Tivo dies for good, you have some information to work off of for your new/refurbed Tivo.

ok, I don't know which part fixed it... I did the 2nd 57 kickstart, and after I let the info download from tivo(when loading started) I unplugged my network adapter(linksys WUSB11) and it worked... I have data now and it completed another load after I plugged the adapter back in

My Series2 has been doing the S03 error on data loading for a month now. Restarting doesn't work. Unplugging/replugging doesn't work. Several kickstarts failed to work--I thought--though a day after the last one the TiVo did manage to do one more successful data load which bought me another two weeks to try (and fail) to get another.
Is there really no way to backup the settings (connection, passes, thumbs, wishlists, etc) before doing something drastic?

I have been on hold twice now for over an hour and hung up on once and stillwaiting for someone to solve my problem.
